DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance (India Alliance) invites you to join a webinar to learn more about “The Role of a Central Research Office in facilitating research”.

Researchers worldwide have to navigate several complexities in raising and managing research funding from diverse sources, whilst additionally managing other requirements for their academic programs. Several research institutions have responded by creating dedicated research management offices, for supporting their researchers with finding funding, developing proposals, negotiating awards and managing funded programs. Such offices need to be nurtured to effectively support the needs of both individual researchers and the institution.

Simon Kerridge is Director of Research Services, University of Kent, UK, where he is responsible for all aspects of the research support including pre-award, post-award, information, strategy, assessment and governance. He leads the INORMS RAAAP Task Force that is collecting longitudinal data about the profession.

Vineetha Raghavan heads the Research Development Office-a single office for scientific administration for combined campus of the Bangalore Life Science Cluster (https://www.ncbs.res.in/blisc) comprising NCBS, inStem and CCAMP. Her responsibilities include strategic grants advice, bid development, operations management, strategy formulation, global engagement, managing research agreements and outreach to funding agencies.

Katrina Lawson is the Grants and Communications Manager at Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where she established OUCRU’s grants service in 2011. Katrina leads a new initiative to build a team of skilled policy engagement and communications staff at OUCRU and additionally contributes to several projects of strategic importance in South-East Asia.

The Webinar is open to leadership at institutions, researchers, research managers and administrators, and individuals interested in pursuing or developing research management careers.
