Despite the size of India’s COVID-19 problem, and the large number of infected individuals and deaths, there has been limited published epidemiological or clinical research emerging from the country. This webinar will explore the largest study of the epidemiology of COVID-19 within the country based on extensive data from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Professor Ramanan Laxminarayan will explain how India can use its localized data to better plan for intervention measures, as well as on managing for personal protective equipment, medicines, supplies as well as, intensive care unit capacity and healthcare personnel.

About the Speaker :

Laxminarayan is the founder and director of the Centre for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP) in Washington, D.C. and New Delhi, and a senior research scholar at Princeton University. He also chairs the board of GARDP, a global product development partnership created by the World Health Organization, that aims to develop and deliver new treatments for bacterial infections. He is the founder and board chair at HealthCube, which works to improve access to healthcare and diagnostics worldwide.

Since 1995, Laxminarayan has worked to improve the understanding of antibiotic resistance as a problem of managing a shared global resource. His work encompasses extensive peer-reviewed research, public outreach, and direct engagement across Asia and Africa through the Global Antibiotic Resistance Partnership.
